Our History

Publishing since 1992

As a brand, Village Publishing was established in 2017, but its roots go back all the way to 1992, when Publisher, Neil Armstrong, started his first publishing business, Rhubarb Publishing, producing newsstand magazines including the World’s first consumer Toy magazine (Family Toys & Games).

In May 2006, Neil Armstrong took a stake in south‐coast based creative agency RT Media Ltd; servicing a range of clients across the UK, while continuing to publish more magazine titles, as well as expanding the contract publishing and online publishing divisions, for clients all over the English speaking world, including USA, Canada and Australia. Several local community paper and magazine titles were also developed during this period, with a Local Papers brand launched to differentiate those products from the rest of the magazine portfolio, resulting the the development of the Village Publishing brand.

Today, Village Publishing is a vibrate local, national and international publishing house, specialising in local community newspapers (Agent Papers), lifestyle magazines (Village, La Chic Elite and BH13), business magazines (Buzz and So… Business) and a long list of digital magazine titles, content-rich websites and a popular range of affordable marketing and design services. Village Publishing is now a brand under the ownership of Magazine Distributors Limited, and is publishing local publications all over the UK including in Dorset, Purbeck, Hampshire and the Isle of Man.
